Information Needed to Produce Sheet Metal Shop Drawings or Coordination Drawings

  1. Complete set of latest contract drawings. (Note: Generally Civil Drawings, Furnishings, and Electrical Power Drawings need not be included.)
  2. Complete copy of the latest Division 15 specifications if possible. (General requirements and sheet metal related sections are a minimum.) Also needed is the latest Division 1 general requirements section.
  3. If applicable to this job, a copy of all building background computer drawing files. This can be on diskette, CD-ROM, or Zip Disk, as an e-mail attachment, or as instructions on where and how to download the drawing files.
  4. List of all equipment that you are required to install whether 100%
    or 50/50.
  5. Mechanical equipment submittals on all items that you will install per your contract as listed in item 3. Approved submittals are preferred but, as submitted is often necessary to expedite the drawing process.
  6. All sheet metal submittals. Approved submittals are preferred but,
    as submitted is often necessary to expedite the drawing process.
  7. Light fixture submittals if possible.
  8. Copy of all duct construction tables for the water gages used on this job. (This needs to show at least the break points for the use of various end treatments.) This should include information for black iron, aluminum, stainless steel, copper, aluminized, PVC coated, etc. in addition to galvanized, if pertinent to this job.
  9. List of pertinent shop and installation standards such as:
      • Coil joint lengths for all end treatments
      • Square elbow standard throat lengths
      • Square elbow minimum throat lengths for various end treatments
      • Square elbow maximum throat lengths for various end treatments
      • Radiused elbow maximum straight
      • Types and lengths of fire damper sleeves preferred for various types
        of fire dampers. (Factory or shop fab?)
      • Maximum lengths of transition or offset fittings
      • Preferred lengths of transition or offset fittings if you compensate
        by the use of short joints
      • Installed lengths of flexible connections for various end treatments
      • Tap lengths (minimum and maximum) for various end treatments
        as well as standard lengths.
      • Break points for the use of two or three els for large radiused els
      • Are tees or nested els preferred? Break points for the use of these.
  10. List of any unusual information that you need to appear on the shop drawings.
  11. If desired, a copy of your standard drawing titleblock and/or logo to be used for your drawings in AutoCAD® dwg or dxf format.
  12. Preferred sheet sizes and scales for your drawings.
  13. Prioritized list of drawing production needs with target dates and/or absolute need dates.
  14. Any other information on the unique requirements of this job or your company.
